About Us

Since you're reading this blog, you likely know who we are, however if you don't, here's a little burb about who we are and what we're up to.

We're a recently married couple from Burlington, Ontario, Canada who've decided to leave everything behind to take an adventure of a lifetime - an extended trip around the world.  Our trip starts on January 10th, 2011, when we leave Canada and fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

We've sold our condo and cars, left our jobs, given/lent-out/packed away all of our possessions, and are planning on leaving with just a back-pack each filled with nothing but our passports, a couple sets of clothes, and a few toiletries. We're hoping to enjoy a simple life as we experience as much of the world as we can over the next year or so.  Saying good-bye to our family, friends, co-workers, and all the things we're used to will be difficult, but it's a small price to pay to have the experiences that we're planning on having. The world is just too intriguing to ignore.  There are so many places that we're dying to see.

Our trip plans are very basic at this point.  We know where we're starting, but after that everything is optional.  If we like a place we'll stay there for a while, if we feel ready to move on elsewhere, we'll do that.  We definitely have a list of places we'd like to see, but that list is not in stone and at anytime we could abandon it and go somewhere else.  As of now, if forced to imagine our itinerary, we would guess that it would look something like this:

Part 1 -  South America:
Argentina > Chile > Brazil > Peru > Ecuador > Columbia > Venezuela > Costa Rica

Part 2 - Asia:
China > Japan > Indonesia > Thailand > Vietnam> Nepal > India

If we have money left over, we'll likely continue on to New Zealand and/or Australia.

The length of time we'll be gone travelling depends mostly on the the amount of money we've budgeted for this trip.  Based on our calculations, we feel that if we stick to our predetermined budget, we should be able to last around a year and a half.  If we get sick of travelling or if we want/need to come home earlier we will do that.

In order to keep our family and friends updated on what we're doing, we've started this blog.  During our trip we plan on writing as frequently as possible. Hopefully we'll have some exciting stories to tell and some fantastic photos to share.  We'd love to hear your feedback and comments too, so please tell us what's going on back home, and if you've got some travel advice for us or some recommendations - please let us know.
